What gets checked
The validator runs the same rule sets national platforms use: EN 16931 business rules (BR, BR-CO), the German XRechnung/KOSIT schematron (BR-DE) and PEPPOL rules, plus PDF/A-3 container checks for hybrid formats. A file is only a legal e-invoice if the XML passes — the human-readable PDF part is irrelevant to compliance.
Common failures we see: totals that don't satisfy BR-CO-15 (net + VAT ≠ gross), missing seller VAT identifier, wrong VAT category codes on exempt lines, and PDFs that merely look like e-invoices but contain no XML at all.
